The guide prioritises official authority and government records, then official project operators and responsible agencies. It records document scope and date, checks time-sensitive claims, and labels uncertainty when sources conflict or provenance is missing. A supplied map, screenshot or media report is never presented as an official record without verification.

Conflicting Information

Prefer the newer authoritative record only when it covers the same geography and question. Otherwise publish both scopes and explain the difference.

Map Provenance

Maps without an official URL, date and issuing body are labelled supplied or archived. “Not to scale” redrafts are not used for measurement.

Verification Dates

A last-verified date means the cited source was checked, not that every underlying condition was independently surveyed.
